Rarity and Value: These are rare and beautiful bank notes. At least 55 are known to exist today. That number usually creeps up by one or two examples every few years. So these are getting slightly more common as time passes. However, they will always be relatively rare. Very few banks issued such a high denomination during this time period. Values start at around $10,000 and go up quickly from there. Contact us for details. Don’t forget to check the serial number. Number 1 notes always sell for nice premiums.
Current Market Analysis: We personally love notes from Mississippi. However, most other collectors don’t feel the same way. In the 1980s Mississippi notes were highly prized for their rarity. Today there just isn’t a lot of demand, despite still being rare. Part of the problem is condition. Mississippi has always been a poor state. Paper money changed hands frequently and today it is usually found in very heavily circulated condition. Many notes are stamp signed, which is also less desirable. One of the last great anticipated discoveries is that of a first charter from Mississippi. None are currently known to exist. Brown backs and red seals (in high grades) are also rare. The same thing goes for #1 notes. There are not many to go around.
