Rarity and Value: Despite saying series of 1882, these were actually printed between 1908 and 1921. So they aren’t quite as old as you might think. However, that doesn’t mean that they can’t be valuable. Your typical range is probably $300 to $1,200. Notes that are rare or especially high grade could certainly be worth more money. Please contact us for details. Don’t forget to check the serial number. Number 1 notes always sell for nice premiums.
Current Market Analysis: New Mexico did not become a state until 1912. That means that everything issued before 1912 is a territorial. Believe it or not, there is actually a wide selection of territorials from New Mexico. First charters, brown backs, and red seals all exist in relatively high numbers. However, that does not mean that they are cheap. We personally really enjoy territorial blue seals. There are also some rare towns from New Mexico. That is the good news. The bad news is that there are very few rare state notes (those issued after 1912) out there. As of this writing, there is not an especially strong collector base supporting the price of New Mexico nationals. Most buyers are just looking for one or two cool territorials.
