Rarity and Value: Most ten dollar territorial blue seals you see are from Hawaii. Notes from states like Alaska, Arizona, and New Mexico are scarce and trade for a lot of money. The value of any note like this is just based on its condition and bank of issue. Please contact us if you would like to know the exact value of your bank note. Don’t forget to check the serial number. Number 1 notes always sell for nice premiums.
Current Market Analysis: Puerto Rico (aka Porto Rico as the bank notes say) is a true outlier when it comes to national bank notes. It is the only location that issued notes that is still a territory today. At the time of issue it was really no different than Hawaii, Alaska, and even Arizona and New Mexico. Of course all of those places have since become states. Porto Rico’s single national bank was in San Juan. It only printed 1902 red seals and 1902 blue seals. Surprisingly, blue seals are many times rarer than red seals. Notes from Porto Rico are on a lot of want-lists. They are just really unique and different. You don’t even really have to be a national bank note collector to understand how rare and special these notes are. So long story short, the market is good!
