Rarity and Value: These are very popular bank notes. They are nicknamed lazy deuces. Examples in heavily circulated condition typically sell for $1,000 as the bottom dollar price. There is plenty of room for that price to be higher. The exact value is really just based on the bank of issue. The state of issue can also be very important. Many notes from southern and western states are especially rare. Contact us for details. Don’t forget to check the serial number. Number 1 notes always sell for nice premiums.
Current Market Analysis: We personally love national bank notes from Tennessee. Sadly, there are not a whole lot of people who feel that way. A couple of very important collections have sold in the past five years, and they simply didn’t do very well. The problem is that there is an oversupply of notes from cities like Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Memphis. For a national from Tennessee to be worth really big money it truly has to be rare. We are talking about serial number one red seals, unique brown backs, and rare denominations from the first charter period. That is not to say that blue seals and small size notes can’t be rare. However, the people spending big money on notes want something really special.
