Rarity and Value: The value of any $20 brown back is just based on the condition and bank of issue. Some can be worth as little as a few hundred dollars if they are from a common bank and in circulated condition. Notes from rare banks that are also high grade could be worth in excess of $2,000 or even more. Please contact us for details. Don’t forget to check the serial number. Number 1 notes always sell for nice premiums.
Current Market Analysis: Even if you are new to the national bank note hobby, you likely know that notes from Alaska are scarce. Only three banks issued currency. You would be hard pressed to find anything worth less than $5,000 (unless it was in terrible condition). The great news is that every type of note issued by the state of Alaska is known to exist. So if you have the money then you can buy what you want. Even more good news is that most notes from Alaska are no longer in Alaska. They can be found throughout most of the United States. There is a premium for notes that say Territory instead of District of Alaska.
