Rarity and Value: There is nothing especially rare about this type of money showing Ben Harrison. The rarity is all based on the condition and bank of issue. Your most generic $5 blue seals are going to sell for around $60. Common but more interesting notes sell for between $100 and $500. The upper end of the market is reserved for the rare stuff; and they can sell for thousands of dollars. The great news is that there are lots of rare banks out there. Many great discoveries are made everyday. Please contact us for pricing details. Don’t forget to check the serial number. Number 1 notes always sell for nice premiums.
Current Market Analysis: It goes against logic, but notes from Wyoming (the least populated state in the country) are actually some of the most popular national bank notes out there. A lot of the appeal has to do with the general western nostalgia tied into every late 19th century town in Wyoming. Of course it doesn’t hurt that Wyoming also issued territorial nationals. Those are very scarce. Only around 20 are known to exist. Red seals are also few and far between, as are interesting brown backs. There are lots of blue seal notes that have the chance to be valuable. For a blue seal to be especially valuable it needs to be rare and have lots of eye appeal. Notes that have condition issues, even if they are rare, should be discounted steeply.
